Global Search helps you jump anywhere in your Ignition account with one shortcut (CMD/CTRL + K), saving you time with your workflow in Ignition.

You can filter by clients, proposals, invoices or services and there's also a “Recently accessed” section that remembers what you opened last. Take advantage of global search so your client billing and follow‑ups are easier to find and action.

How to use Global Search

  1. Click the search icon in the top left hand menu, or simply press CMD/CTRL + K on your keyboard.

This brings up the global search bar.

  2. Type a keyword or partial word. Matching text will appear highlighted in results.

  3. Use filter badges beneath the search box to show only a specific record type (e.g. Clients, Proposals, Services, Invoices).

  4. Select a result to navigate directly to its record, or use the arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight and then press Enter to select it.

  5. To resume recent work, open Global Search and choose from your “Recently accessed” list (up to the last 6 items saved on your device).

Filters

After typing in a search term, select the filter badges beneath the search field to narrow results by type.

Keyword highlighting

As you type in the global search bar, your search term will be highlighted in the results.

The search supports partial-word matching, helping you spot the right record even if you don’t recall the exact title.

Example below: Searching "Tra" will highlight "Tramway's Coffee House", "Yarra Transport" and other services with "tra" in the name.

Invoices support

Invoices are included in Global Search results, alongside Clients, Proposals, and Services.

When handling client billing like checking an invoice or following up on an invoice, we strongly recommend using the global search + the invoices filter.

You can do this anywhere in Ignition except for when you are creating or editing a proposal.

Note: If you are connected to Xero Practice Manager (XPM), you can also search for Client Groups.

FAQ’s

Can I filter multiple types at once?

Use the filter badges to focus on one type at a time. Use the "All" filter to view all results again.

Do highlights work on partial matches?

Yes. Partial-word matching is supported, and the matching text is highlighted in the result.
