Describe the work in plain English and get an editable proposal draft, ready for your review. You can also attach a document, such as an engagement letter, call notes or a fee schedule, and Ignition uses it as context.
Ignition finds the client and template, matches services from your library, and applies the prices and billing you asked for. The draft opens in the proposal editor for you to review, and nothing is sent to your client.
Please note: AI Proposal Creator is a beta feature available through Ignition Labs. AI-generated results can contain mistakes. Always review the client, services, prices, billing and terms before sending the proposal.
What can AI Proposal Creator do?
Create a new draft proposal for a client who already exists in Ignition.
Start from one of your proposal templates, or build a simple one-option proposal from scratch.
Match the services you describe to services already in your library.
Suggest new services when there is no match, so you can review them before they are added to your library.
Set prices, price types, quantities, discounts, tax, invoicing mode and common billing schedules, including a deposit and balance.
Add client-specific notes to service descriptions and service terms.
Keep a template's options and update the services already in them.
Before you begin
Turn on Draft proposals in plain English in Settings → Labs. Learn how in this support article.
You need permission to create proposals. To add new services to your library, you also need permission to create services. Without it, you can still use services already in your library.
The client must already exist in Ignition. AI Proposal Creator doesn't create new clients.
You can attach one file per request: PDF, DOCX, XLS or XLSX, up to 25 MB. Text-based files work best, as scanned images may not be readable.
Your instruction can be up to 10,000 characters.
Create a proposal with AI
Click New proposal.
Under How would you like to start?, choose Create with AI.
Describe the proposal you want. Include the client, the template if you want one, the services, and the price and billing frequency for each.
To use a document, click Upload file and choose your file.
Click Continue. Ignition reads your instruction and prepares the draft. Long instructions or documents can take up to 3 minutes.
If your instruction includes new services, review them on the Review services page, then click Save & continue.
Review every section of the draft in the proposal editor, make any changes, then send it when you're ready.

How service matching works
On the Review services page, Ignition splits services into two groups:
Existing services matched: these are already in your library, so Ignition uses them on this proposal.
New services: these aren't in your library yet. Ignition adds them to your library when you save, and you can edit them later.
Prices and billing you ask for in your instructions apply to this proposal only. They don't change the service in your library.
If a service you describe is similar to one in your library but several details differ, such as the price, price type, tax or currency, Ignition suggests it as a new service and explains why.
Example: You ask for monthly bookkeeping at $450 a month and a one-off catch-up at $1,200. Bookkeeping is already in your library at $400 a month. Ignition matches your existing bookkeeping service, sets it to $450 on this proposal, and suggests the catch-up as a new service for you to review.
Best practices for better results
Use exact names. Name the client, template and services exactly as they appear in Ignition.
Give final prices. State the exact price and billing frequency for each service, rather than asking for a calculation like a percentage increase.
Say what should stay the same. When you use a template, list the services to change and say that everything else stays as it is.
Point to the right part of your document. If a document has conflicting values, say which section or column is correct.
Separate agreed work from ideas. For call notes, ask for only the services the client agreed to.
Review before you send. Check the client, services, prices, billing, tax and terms in the draft.
What AI Proposal Creator can't do yet
Edit, renew or raise prices on an existing proposal. It always creates a new draft.
Add, remove or reorganize template options or projects.
Remove services that are already in a template.
Create three or more installment payments, or a detailed custom payment schedule.
Use the same library service at different prices in different options. Use a separate service for each tier instead.
Set proposal recipients, payment requirements, workflows, videos, signable documents or automatic expiry.
Fill in the proposal name, date or branding.
Troubleshooting
"We couldn't find that client in Ignition"
Check the spelling of the client name in your instruction.
If the client is new, add them to Ignition first, then try again.
"We couldn't find that proposal template"
Check the template name in your instruction.
Leave the template out to build the proposal from your services instead.
"We couldn't find any services in your instruction"
Name the services you want to include, or name a template to start from.
"That document is too large"
Upload a file under 25 MB, or paste the relevant text into the instruction box instead.
"This instruction was too long or too complex to draft"
Shorten your instruction, or attach a smaller document.
Start with a simpler first draft, then finish it in the proposal editor.
"This is taking longer than expected"
Long documents can take a while. Click Try again in a moment, or choose Build proposal yourself.
A price was left blank
If your document has no price for a service, such as hourly work, enter the amount in the proposal editor.
FAQs
Will anything be sent to my client?
No. AI Proposal Creator only creates a draft. You decide when to send it.
Will it change my service library?
It only adds the new services you save on the Review services page. Prices set in your instruction apply to this proposal only.
Can I edit the draft?
Yes. The draft is a normal proposal, so you can change anything in the proposal editor.
Can I attach more than one file?
Not yet. Attach the most complete document, and add any other details in your instruction.
Can I upload a CSV or an image?
No. Use a PDF, DOCX, XLS or XLSX file, or paste the text into the instruction box.
