See whether your work is really paying off. WIP performance reporting brings your time, WIP and invoices together, so you can spot unprofitable clients, scope creep and underpriced services before they cost you.

How performance reporting works
Performance uses the time your team records, whether it comes from a connected time source or is recorded in Ignition, alongside the invoices you issue in Ignition. It shows what the work was worth, what you billed and how each client, service and team member is tracking.
Written-off time isn't deleted. It stays visible and still counts toward your performance and realization figures, so you see the full picture of what the work cost you.
Clearing and writing off WIP
Clearing WIP removes those time entries from your WIP metrics. If old time entries are coming in and you donât want them included in your metrics, consider clearing them.
Writing off time that is included in your metrics does flow through to your performance and realization figures. If you want to remove particular entries from the metrics, clear them rather than writing them off.
Commercial outlook
Commercial outlook shows where billing against a client's agreement would lead to a projected write-down or write-up. Use it to raise scope or pricing conversations with your client before you absorb the loss.
Client performance
Each client's performance brings together revenue, effective rate, margin, realization, open WIP and stale WIP in one view. It also suggests next steps, like billing open WIP or repricing the client at renewal.
Client Groups
Group members remain separate client records. Review performance for the individual client that received the work; the Client Group roll-up currently documents services, billing schedules, and invoices.
Time-based performance
For hourly work, Performance follows your WIP through the month: opening WIP, new work, billed work, write-ups, write-downs, held work and closing WIP. Realization, effective rate and clearance show how much of that work turned into revenue, making month-end review easier.
Fixed-fee performance
For fixed-fee work, Performance compares the revenue you've issued with the cost of the time spent, to show your effective rate and margin. The monthly view makes it easy to see when your effective rate drops because the same fee is covering more work.
People performance
When your team members are matched to users in your time source, Performance shows each person's approved time, billed time and the clients they support.
You can also see how your team's time splits between fixed-fee work, time-based work, unclassified time and internal time.
FAQs
Who can access WIP?
Admins can access Performance. Admins and Principal users can access WIP settings.
Why isn't a team member showing in People performance?
People performance only includes team members who are matched to a user in your time source. Check that the person is matched.
Why is my effective rate falling on a fixed-fee client?
The fee stays the same while more time is spent delivering the work. Check Commercial outlook and Client performance to decide whether to raise scope or reprice at renewal.
Does writing off time remove it from my reports?
No. Written-off time stays visible and still counts toward performance and realization, so your figures reflect the real effort behind the work.
