Importing app clients to Ignition
When you've connected an app that syncs clients, you'll be able to see that app's client list in Ignition.
If you're doing this for the first time or want to import in bulk, click Import → select the app you want to import from.
This will import all of your connected app clients in bulk to Ignition.
If you would like to pick and choose your clients to import, navigate to Clients → App clients → Select your connected app → click the three dots → Import as Ignition client.
The Import screen will list all of your clients in that connected app.
Click a client to import them into Ignition, or link it to an existing Ignition client to set up automatic syncing.
If you import an app client to an Ignition client, Ignition will first check for any potential matches in Ignition to prevent duplicate clients.
If a duplicate is detected because of a matching email address or the same client name, you'll have the opportunity to link your app client with that Ignition client instead of importing them.
Please note: There has to be an exact match of the client name or email address in order for Ignition to raise the potential duplicate.
Linking to an existing Ignition client
The benefit of linking an app client to an existing Ignition client is to prevent duplicate clients in both systems which can get tedious to fix.
To link your connected app clients to an Ignition client, navigate to Clients → App clients → Select your connected app → Import.
Find the client you would like to link → click the three dots → select Link to Ignition client.
Have a lot of clients you want to link? You can link them in bulk instead.
Linking app clients in bulk
If you already have clients in both Ignition and your connected app, you don't need to link them one at a time. Ignition can find the clients that match and let you link them all at once.
Once linked, client details stay in sync between Ignition and your connected app. For workflow apps like Karbon or XPM, linking also lets Ignition create work for those clients automatically.
Available on all plans for any connected app with client sync: Xero, QuickBooks, XPM, Karbon, FYI, Sage, MYOB, CCH Axcess, Onvio, ProConnect, Digits and Financial Cents.
To get started, navigate to Clients → App clients → Select your connected app → Match app clients, then click Find matching clients.
Matching can take a moment for larger client lists. You can leave the page while it runs.
Reviewing your matches
When matching finishes, Ignition shows each app client next to the Ignition client it most likely matches. Matches are sorted into tabs:
Match found: Ignition is confident these are the same client. These are selected for you.
Needs review: Ignition found a possible match that you should check before linking. These aren't selected
All: Every app client that isn't linked yet.
Ignition matches on client name first, then uses the contact email address to confirm the match. Hover over a match result to see how confident the match is.
If a suggested Ignition client isn't right, click the dropdown and type to search for the correct one. To skip a client, untick it.
Linking your clients
When you're happy with your selection, click Link selected. Nothing is linked until you do, so you stay in control of every match.
Ignition fills in any blank client details, like address or phone number, using the details from your connected app. Ignition won't overwrite details you've already added.
Please note: Each Ignition client can only be linked to one app client. If you select the same Ignition client twice, Ignition highlights the rows so you can fix them before linking.
Can't see a new client?
If you've recently added clients to your connected app, click Sync on the App clients page to bring them into Ignition. Then go back to Match app clients and click Rematch to update your matches.
