Interactive demo
How to set an expiry period on a proposal
The expiry feature will be automatically enabled for new proposals created from scratch and set to 14 days. You can adjust the number of days, or turn off the proposal expiry feature.
For existing proposal templates and proposals, the expiry feature will be disabled by default. To enable an automatic expiry after a set period, in the General Step of the proposal editor of a Draft proposal→ enable the Proposal auto expires toggle.
Once toggled ON, the proposal auto expiry will be set to 14 days after sending. You have the option to modify the expiry period or disable it altogether.
Expired and unsigned proposals will be moved automatically to Lost status.
Proposal templates
Proposal expiry periods can be saved within proposal templates. However, expiry settings cannot be configured or toggled at the account level; they are only managed through individual proposal templates.
Proposal reminders
Proposal reminders will include the expiry date to create a sense of urgency with every reminder. The maximum timeframe for expiration is 91 days and aligns with the maximum proposal reminder setting of 3 reminders, 30 days apart.
How to edit the expiry date after a proposal has been sent
To edit the expiration date after the proposal has been sent either:
Re-send the proposal to start the expiration period over again
Edit the proposal to adjust the expiry date, and re-send the proposal
Your client's experience
When a proposal has an expiry date, clients will be informed both in the proposal email and through automated reminder emails.
Once the proposal expires, clients will no longer be able to sign. If the client tries to access an expired proposal, the link will bring them to a screen notifying them that the proposal has expired.
Multi-signature proposals
If a proposal includes multiple signatures, the expiration policy remains in effect until all required signatories have signed.
Your experience in Ignition
Proposal activity log
The status change, whether the proposal is accepted or marked as lost upon expiration, will be recorded in the proposal activity log.
Simply navigate to the proposal via your Pipeline or in a specific client record and scroll down to the Activity section. If more time is needed, you can resend the proposal to reset the expiry date.
Proposal expired notification
If a proposal expires without being signed and accepted, the user that sent the proposal will be notified in a proposal expired email and an in-app notification. Notifications can be controlled in your Ignition profile.
Filtering within Pipeline
In the Pipeline, you can filter proposals by expiration date, making it easier to track and manage upcoming deadlines.
